Becky Sirvelli is a 67-year-old woman who lives in Laguna Woods, CA and suffered an accidental fall down a flight of stairs in her home about a year ago. The injury caused internal bleeding around her brain that has created significant cognitive problems. As she was recovering at home, her son Brian took some time off university to care for her. Prior to the brain injury, she was doing just fine and was fortunate enough to have her full health, but after the fall, everything is more difficult for her and her family.

After Brian provided daily care for about 3 months, Becky was able to get through some occupational and speech therapy sessions, which were continued at home as Brian helped her to regain some essential skills. Becky had to re-learn how to begin and complete certain tasks and had serious defects in her memory, learning, reasoning, and judgment abilities.

As she regained functioning, Brian could no longer ignore his obligations as a student and had to go back to school. Before leaving, he found a caregiver named Stella from A-1 Home Care Agency. Brian hired Stella to assist Becky with activities of daily living in addition to continuing rehabilitation at home from therapist approved exercises. He was worried that Stella and Becky wouldn’t get along but was pleased to find out that Stella was a truly genuine and compassionate individual.

Stella provides 24-hour care for Becky and will continue to do so for as long as necessary.
