With over 40,000 chapters around the country and other countries overseas, the Red Hat Society is that was opened for women that are 50 years old and over, and now open to all women. It was founded locally in Fullerton back in 1998 after a group of friends began going to a tea party wearing red hats and purple shirts. The main purpose for the organization is to encourage social interaction among women.
