What is Hacienda Heights?
Hacienda Heights is an unincorporated suburban community within Los Angeles County, California. This area is located in the eastern San Gabriel Valley and is predominantly a residential area. Hacienda Heights is approximately 11 square miles and is home to over 54,000 residents.
Events and Attractions
Throughout the area of Hacienda Heights, there are events and attractions which appeal to all ages. There are six local parks, and an annual event called the “I Love America” parade, which features a multicultural parade with performances. During this event, there is also a battle of the bands, which is between the local high schools. Located at 3456 South Glenmark Drive in Hacienda Heights is the Hsi Lai Temple. This Buddhist monastery stands for “coming west,” and practices Humanistic Buddhism, the same as its mother temple in Taiwan.

This temple offers many retreats and classes to promote Humanistic Buddhism. These activities are available in English and Chinese. There are also monthly ceremonies and services such as the Dharma Service on Sunday mornings, the Great Compassion Repentance Service which is held monthly on the second Friday of each month, and others which offer other benefits to individuals interested. The temple encompasses 15 acres of land and a floor area of 102,432 square feet, open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
