What is kidney disease?

Kidney disease can negatively impact your body’s ability to clean your blood. Kidney disease typically impacts that along with the filtering of water out of blood, impact red blood cell production, and the control of blood pressure.

 

What causes kidney disease?

A few factors which can cause kidney disease to develop is when the body does not send enough blood flow to the kidneys, damage of the kidneys, or urine backing up in the kidneys. Another possible cause of kidney disease can be type 1 and 2 diabetes, because of the high blood sugar levels negatively impacting the kidneys. The prolonged use of NSAIDs such as ibuprofen and naproxen can also cause damage to the kidneys. Lastly, the over consumption of alcohol can cause the kidneys to work harder and cause damage over time.

How to prevent kidney disease?

Managing diabetes and high blood pressure because those are the main causes of kidney disease. Eating a healthy, well-rounded diet and exercising regularly. Maintaining a healthy weight, limiting alcohol use, and do not smoke. Even though kidney disease can be deadly, it is important to remember that the kidneys are very adaptable and can compensate for the problems that may happen when you have kidney disease.
